The European Blockchain Convention took place in Barcelona on 29 of November. The conference was held at the luxurious 5-star Hotel NH Collection Barcelona Tower, located in Barcelona’s new business and financial district, between the airport and the city center. This Convention was so important for industry leaders, investors, developers, CTOs, and entrepreneurs in the Blockchain and Digital Currency space. And the conference considered as one of the greatest and most spectacular specialized conferences on a 100% European level. The European Blockchain Convention was an excellent opportunity to hear from and connect with industry thought leaders from all around Europe. WATCH OUT: SOCIAL DESIRABILITY BIAS AND ‘’OFF’’ PREDICTIONS  A common concern for all pollsters is whether their interviewees are telling the truth. By giving wrong answers, participants may undermine the accuracy and reliability of poll results. But why would anyone do that, other than for being pissed off by intruding interviewers and online surveys? Well, it turns out that even when individuals feel comfortable with taking the time to fill out surveys, they may not feel comfortable expressing their true opinion, especially if this opinion isn’t socially acceptable. What is Social Desirability Bias? Social desirability bias occurs when survey respondents inaccurately report a socially acceptable or favorable answer to present themselves in a better light. It has been argued that the motivation behind social desirable responding may be either self-deception or impression.1 Therefore, social desirability bias shouldn’t be confused with intentional ‘’lying’’. Social desirability bias is one of the limitations of surveys and is different than sampling bias. That is, even when your sample is representative of the population, social desirability bias may skew your findings. Is it worth all the money and time? Why should every organisation or company conduct surveys?  The two methods to gain information about potential customers and their likes are research using primary sources and secondary sources. The primary sources are those obtained from the researcher himself with observations and surveys. The latter is the already-existing information available such as researches and old surveys. Although it might seem in some cases that secondary sources are significantly easier and cheaper to obtain, they are not personalized for the companies. Consumers are very fragile and variable in their behaviors. How a consumer reacts to one company varies completely from how he reacts towards another; even if the two company are very similar in many aspects. Therefore, although obtaining information from previously made surveys and researches from similar companies may seem to be the clever way, doing a research specifically for the company is a must for understanding consumer. Given the appropriate conditions, which we will explain in detail in our “Ways to increase the relevance and reliability of the survey” article, consumers are significantly more eager to answer the questions honestly and give their true opinion.
